I have recently built out a new vCloud 5.1.2 lab with VCNS 5.12 and VC 5.1 for a POC. Our vApps are configured with one vApp network and 1:1 nat to an external network. If we deploy the vApp from catalog it comes then runs customization and works correctly. However if we shut down just one of the VM's and edit the properties like adjusting vCPU and power it back up the network does not function. We get into this situation a number of different ways but what I'm describing is the simplest path to reproduce. Stopping the entire vApp and starting it again seems to resolve the issue. However our automation requirements make this highly undesirable. Often we need to support 5-6 vm's in a single vApp and having all of them go down to make any changes well sux. We are utilizing VXLAN for the vApp network and like I said it works unless the vm properties change.
I'm really looking for suggestions on how to isolate the issue. What logs are likely to show errors for this kind of problem? Can I dump the nat settings from vshield somehow? Acquire a rubber chicken? I have worked through a number of blogs on configuring our setup and compared them to our config without finding any angles to pursue.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
Blake
