Hi everyone!
I'm a developer from StarWind Software that participates in TAP of VMware.
May you help me to clarify some points concerned with the task of integrating management of StarWind iSCSI Target to VCenter/vSphere.
I need advise in adding support of our iSCSI Target Service for VMware.
StarWind already has developed the SMI-S Agent (SMI-S Provider) that provides information to SC VMM 2012 R2 from Microsoft and it works fine.
The client (for example, SCVMM) can use our SMI-S Agent to receive information about status and capabilities of our Storage Array and control it (create/remove LUs, assign them to hypervisors and so on).
What you think about the way that we should implement mentioned support for VMware?
Please, advise what VMware can offer for integrating of our Storage Array Solution?
Does VMware has some similar mechanisms as SMI-S client that connects to SMI-S Provider of a storage array?
Does VMware supports SMI-S in a manner as it was done by Microsoft?
Please, comment this.
I will appreciate you if you connect me with responsible person (or team) that can help me in this questions.
Thank you in advance!
